This was originally a challenge to work on a much larger format. These are each 48"x 24". It was fun doing this project but challenging to find a home for this piece because of its size. It has a temporary home for now so that it can be shared with others. I believe that the process of making art is the reason why artists are always working, but the second reason is to share the process and results with others regardless of their reaction to the final piece of work.

This was completely unexpected. I just started scribbling and these shapes developed so I took them farther and it dictated what would come next. My intention is to learn to not plan or dictate to myself what the end result will be and instead trust the process to lead me into a new direction. Kathy T. is my teacher, of sorts, because I listen and follow her example.

This is what I am working on now. It is larger than the other pieces I have been working on lately. The materials are the gesso and pastel method that I have been playing with. Moving from reality to a more representational view has been difficult, frustrating, and extremely rewarding because it feels like progress and growth.

I am still working with line and texture in this piece. The contrast between the detail in the small square area and the vague image around the square speak in two very different ways yet have something common that keeps them united.

This is my newest pastel that started as one piece but I was having so much fun it grew to three pieces. Kind of whimsical and free.

I am using the masonite board with gesso like a scratch board. Love the line quality and effect. Having a lot of fun with these.
